1st All-Female Relay Team Wins Gold in Amsterdam Tournament

Northern Wave was proud to present the first all-female relay team in the club’s 10 year history at the Upstream Valentines Meet, held in Amsterdam the weekend after Valentine’s Day 2008. In addition to individual medals, Eli Marston, Katy Walker, Hayley-Jane Sims and Hana Kubacova won gold medals for the 4x50 metres freestyle and 4x50 metres individual medley relays. Northern Wave’s women’s team brought home a grand total of 19 medals, including 16 golds! Hana, NW’s Women’s Rep, said “The event was a great moment for Northern Wave and for women’s swimming in general. Women are under-represented at these events and it’s great that our club is helping to redress that balance. I am very proud of the girls!” Well done and congratulations to Northern Wave Women!
